It was a thrill to host Steve Winwood All Access on The River 95.5 and 106.3 in Colorado on Saturday September 16th, just a day prior to his performance at Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. I loved doing this special, it reminded of my dear friend, the late Andy Fraser, in so many ways.
The interview dives right in to his start as a young paid musician, his beginnings with Spencer Davis Group and Traffic. How his friendship with Eric Clapton formed Blind Faith, back to Traffic and his Grammy winning solo career.
"Winwood Greatest Hits Live" is available as a 2-CD or 4-LP set or digital download.

Jonny Lang is pleased to announce a brand new studio album, Signs, which will be released in North America on September 8th via Concord Records.
You can download “Make It Move” for free on Jonny Lang’s website.
Anyone who originally discovered Jonny Lang through his searing instrumental work will revel in the huge guitar tones and go for broke solos on Signs, while those who have appreciated his growth as an honest and passionate songwriter will find that honesty and passion unabated.
Signs was produced by Lang, Drew Ramsey, and Shannon Sanders. Josh Kelly helmed “Bring Me Back Home.” Lang offers, “Josh and I cut six or seven songs together and had a blast doing it. I am saving the other ones for who knows what, but I definitely wanted that one to be on this record.”
Since the release of his debut album, GRAMMY Award winning Jonny Lang has built a reputation as one of the best live performers and guitarists of his generation. The path Lang has been on has brought him the opportunity to support or perform with some of the most respected legends in music. He has shared the stage with everyone from The Rolling Stones and B.B. King to Aerosmith and Buddy Guy, who he continues to tour with today.
Give a listen to the chat that Jonny and I had on Thursday September 7th on The River. we talked music making, who his musical influences are, his song writing process and even what could be the theme song of his life. He also recommended a song from Stevie Wonder that he wanted to share with our listeners.
I will forever be grateful to my dear friend Terry Thompson who invited me to see Jonny Lang at Penchanga Casino years ago. Instantly I became a fan of Jonny for his dynamic energy on stage. You can feel every bit of emotion during his shows with his incredible voice and powerful guitar playing. Fast forward to another lifetime and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Jonny Lang would be performing at Belly Up Aspen on September 8th, the exact date of his new album release. In fact the last time I got to see Jonny perform was at Belly Up Solana Beach, CA.
Being a recent immigrant to Colorado, as soon as I got here and found out there was a Belly Up Aspen, I reached out to see if they would be interested in doing on-air promotions for ticket giveaways. Yay!!! Taylor of Belly Up Aspen has been game every time I've checked in to see if they'd like to partner with us at KRVG The River. But this time was special for me, I called up and let them know that Jonny's new album was releasing on the very same day that he would be performing at Belly Up Aspen, "could I have a couple pair of tickets for on-air giveaway." A quick "yes" and game was on.
I made another quick phone call to David Einstein of Einstein's Theory and an interview was scheduled with Jonny as easy as that. I haven't gotten nervous about doing an interview in a very long time, thank goodness Jonny is such a caring guy and willing to play along in any direction I wanted.
Congratulations Jonny on the release of your 9th studio album, "Signs". Thank you for sharing your voice and music with us. Heartstrings!!!

Hello everyone! I’m writing this on a tour bus on my way to Northern California. For the past three and a half years, I’ve spent most of my time on the fifth floor of the Al Hirschfeld Theater playing drums for the six-time Tony Award-winning Broadway show Kinky Boots, (book by Harvey Fierstein and music by Cyndi Lauper).
A few weeks back I received a phone call asking me to rejoin Cyndi’s band. I totally love being at the theater and playing with our incredible thirteen-piece orchestra, but after 1,291 performances (since April 4, 2013), I was ready to hit the road. I gladly accepted the offer.
The tour is in support of Cyndi’s recent album Detour. It’s a classic country record made in Nashville (awesome drummers Chad Cromwell and Greg Morrow played on the record). We are playing six tracks from Detour, as well as a number of Cyndi’s hits. It’s really great to be back onstage with Cyndi and this killin’ band.
My first gig back with Cyndi was recording Austin City Limits Live. Nothing like jumping straight into the fire! Cyndi is an incredibly dynamic performer and likes to change it up from time to time. She calls a lot of “audibles,” so I need to stay on top of things. The shows are rocking and fans have been incredible and extremely supportive.
