Purchase "It's Only Love" by Groove LTD.,
featuring U-Nam & Shannon Kennedy on Amazon
Creating an accomplished reputation in an ever-expanding array of musical genres, Shannon Kennedy is recognized as an extraordinarily multi-faceted artist, composer, producer, performer, recording artist and music instructor. By maintaining diversity as a performer and composer, she has developed an exciting and constantly evolving career in contemporary music. Primarily recognized as a ‘powerhouse saxophonist’ throughout Southern California, Shannon has recently spent her time teaming up with French Guitarist and #1 Chart Topping Artist, U-Nam, to form Groove LTD, a soulful and electrifying new group performing and recording a fusion of contemporary jazz and RnB. Groove LTD recently made their debut on the Billboard Most Added and Chartbound Charts with “It’s Only Love“, #13 on The Smooth Jazz Top 20 with Allen Kepler, and #34 on the SmoothJazz.com Charts.
Peter White and veteran saxman Greg Vail made guest appearances on her popular 2007 release Never My Love, and her 2008 holiday themed CD Almost That Time of the Year features White, Colionne, trumpet great Greg Adams and famed Special EFX guitarist Chieli Minucci. Even before the official release of Almost That Time..., the project’s high spirited title track was receiving airplay.
In addition to her work as a saxophonist, Kennedy has recently been stepping out as a compelling lead vocalist. Her 2012 album release, Behind Your Eyes, saw success with “Falling Slowly” and “Dead Man’s Party” as well as her original, French-lyric composition “N’Importe Quoi.”
While recording and touring as a part of Groove LTD, Shannon Kennedy has also had time to continue working on her music as a solo artist, releasing “Rolling in the Deep,” an instrumental cover of the popular Adele song and the first single from her album release in 2015.
Her expansion into the rock and urban markets with this breakthrough vocal tune builds on her enormous popularity in the jazz world via live solo performances at hot-spots like Antonucci’s in Mission Viejo and the Temecula club The Merc, where she plays straight-ahead jazz. She also has played venues like Anaheim’s House of Blues with the popular O.C. based Sade tribute band Taboo, with whom she also shot a TV pilot. While showcasing her talents on all four saxes (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) and flute, her early 2007 album Steppin’ Up hinted at all of the diversity to come, with forays into pop, blues, funk, gospel, old school pop-soul and even more exotic influences like calypso, tango and bossa nova. She’s developed her world music chops further by doing workshops and playing with the Southern California based flamenco-global fusion band Incendio.
